FCN Harvest Resources for Churches

FCN has again produced resources for churches to use at harvest. The short visual presentation highlights the value of UK farming alongside the issues which threaten its future and how the Church is responding through the work of FCN. It also shows how we can all make a positive difference.

‘Harvest Festival’ is traditionally celebrated by churches across the UK in the early autumn. It is an opportunity to pray for the farming community, particularly this year as so many continue to struggle with low prices and increasing bureaucracy, on top of the huge strain caused by the disastrous new ‘Single Payment Scheme’ which resulted in problems that have affected every farming family in the UK in some way. It has been a very difficult and stressful run-up to harvest on many farms this year.

Harvest is also a time to remind us all to think about the food we eat, the farmers who produce it, and of course the God who provides it!

The following resources are available on request from the FCN office in a variety of formats:

•Book of Graces – for farming and countryside occasions, compiled by Malcolm Stansfield, Trustee of FCN and known to many in farming. Perfect for harvest, copies are available at £5 each (incl p&p) with all proceeds to FCN. Please make cheques payable to Mr M Stansfield and post your order to the FCN office.

•FCN help cards & leaflets – if you are a rural church, we can supply you with materials to make available in the church so people who may need FCN’s help know how to contact us.

FCN’s ministry would not be possible without the support of churches, both urban and rural. We are grateful for the continued generosity of our churches in prayer, finance, raising awareness and supporting FCN’s volunteers in their local work in the farming community.
