Harvest Festival resources for churches
FCN has Harvest Festival resources available for churches to use this autumn, and is encouraging churches in both rural and urban areas to pray for farming communities and thank God for the food they produce and the countryside they look after.
This year many farmers across the UK have had a bleak harvest. The recent flooding and heavy rains have caused great difficulty, not only due to flooding, but also due to severe water-logging of fields. The recent Foot and Mouth Disease outbreaks are also causing serious problems across the UK with the restrictions on livestock movements.
Harvest provides an opportunity to pray for the farming community, particularly this year as so many are struggling with the impact of the weather. Harvest is also a time to remind us all to think about the food we eat, the farmers who produce it, and of course the God who provides it, and to remember how fortunate we are in this country that even when the harvest fails we do not go hungry.
FCN would like to encourage every church to celebrate the festival of Harvest, to give thanks to God for his provision and to pray for farmers and FCN’s work as a Christian ministry to the farming community.

FCN’s ministry would not be possible without the support of churches, both urban and rural. We are grateful for the continued generosity of our churches in prayer, finance, raising awareness and supporting FCN’s volunteers in their local work in the farming community.
