The Pilgrim’s Way
Terry Brighton, chairman of our Devon group, is celebrating his retirement by making a pilgrimage which echoes the route taken by thousands of people since the Middle Ages. He is walking more than 400 miles from Exeter to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain to visit the shrine of Saint James the Greater.
In addition to his personal spiritual benefit, Terry will be raising funds for Farm Crisis Network through sponsorship.
Terry set out from Exeter Cathedral on 21st April, walking the first 36 miles to Plymouth. After taking the ferry to Santander, he is continuing to Compostela taking the ‘Camino del Norte’ via Oviedo. Terry, who will be on the road for some five weeks, aims to cover the remaining 372 miles in time to reach Compostela for Pentecost on 31st May. This promises to be a journey of discovery and excitement – and four hundred miles on foot will be no small challenge!
You can keep up with Terry during his adventure by reading his Blog Click here If you and friends, colleagues and fellow parishioners would like to support Terry through sponsorship, go to his Just Giving page Click here and make a donation using your bank card.
